Installing modern cabling into old buildings is always challenging
For the East Court refurbishment of Alexandra Palace the design team wanted a system of floor trunking to be incorporated in to the diagonal floor pattern
When refurbishing the Theatre, ceiling strongholds were required to protect the existing ceiling plaster from the required cabling needed to support the theatre lighting.
The design team called Cableduct.

A bespoke spun collar was made in two parts to enable fixing from above connecting to the ceiling protection flange.
All the services were to be fed parallel to the sides of the building, but all visible parts were to be at 45°. Cableduct designed a system of entry to a large base box, which then fed an angled inner collar to protrude through the polished concrete floor.
The floor require wet washing. An IP65 rated ceiling plate seals the frame to stop water entering the floor box. A flat brass lid then completes the floor box
